FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ON-CAMPUS PREGNANCY
Feel free to get in touch with us under the "CONTACT US" tab with any questions you may have! This website will continue to be developed as POC learns about the needs of student parents and finds more resources relevant to those needs. For now, below are a few common questions and concerns.
Can I live in the dorms? Yes. Students are allowed to continue living in the dorms and attending ASU throughout pregnancy.
Will professors be understanding? From College while Pregnant: "Yes. They have seen it before, and pregnant college students note that it helps to tell all of your professors early in your pregnancy so you can plan with them to ensure the semester flows smoothly for you." Also, pregnant and parenting students cannot be penalized for absences or late work under Title IX!
Does ASU have a policy regarding pregnant student? Not in general. They are bound by the rights granted to pregnant students by Title IX. There is a policy for pregnant student-athletes and student-athletes whose partners become pregnant. View it here or see our summary under "Pregnant Student-Athlete Policy."
What services does the ASU On-Campus Health Service provide? Pregnancy tests, breastfeeding equipment, and referrals to other doctors upon request.
